1) The frequency of a light wave is the same when the light travels in ethyl alcohol as it is when it travels in cubic zirconia. Find the ratio of the wavelength of the light in ethyl alcohol to that in cubic zirconia. (this link might be helpful)

2) The speed of light is 1.25 times as large in material A than in material B. Determine the ratio
nA/nB of the refractive indices of these materials.

3) In a certain time, light travels 3.50 km in a vacuum. During the same time, light travels only 2.50 km in a liquid. What is the refractive index of the liquid?

4) A flat sheet of ice has a thickness of 2.0 cm. It is on top of a flat sheet of quartz that has a thickness of 1.1 cm. Light strikes the ice perpendicularly and travels through it and then through the quartz. In the time it takes the light to travel through the two sheets, how far (in cm) would it have traveled in a vacuum? (

5)  Light in a vacuum is incident on a transparent glass slab. The angle of incidence is 35.0 degrees. The slab is then immersed in a pool of liquid. When the angle of incidence for the light striking the slab is 20.3 degrees, the angle of refraction for the light entering the slab is the same as when the slab was in a vacuum. What is the index of refraction of the liquid?

6)  A light ray hits a surface at an angle of 86o. The material on the other side of the surface has an index of refraction of 1.41 and the light is making an angle of 53.75o with the surface when it exits on this side. What is the index of refraction on the incident side of the interface?

7)  At the interface between two materials a light ray is at an angle of 24o with the interface on a side with an index of refraction of 2.02. If the light is at an angle of 47.74o on the other side of the interface, what is the index of refraction on this side?
